‘The Science of Colour’ - September Paint Making Workshop - Sunday 15th 10am
Join me at my Loch studio where I will share with you what I know about making paint and paintings from earth, as well as brewing and making your own paint colours from some unexpected sustainable sources.
If you have come to a ‘natural paint making’ workshop before there is some overlap in content. But I do have new techniques to share - drawing heavily on my science background to focus on the quality of the paint and how common waste items can be repurposed into beautiful, stable colour.
You will spend a productive and thoughtful morning mixing and filling a pan of your own handmade paint to take home. We will also discuss finding your own earth pigments, what to look for and consider if you are interested in going out and collecting your own materials to make paint later.
Once you have made some beautiful natural colours to play with, we can spend time time experimenting and painting together. There is no need to be an artist, or have any experience at all. It’s simply about enjoying yourself and learning a new thing.
Key details:
Address: 1 Clarence street Loch Vic
Best way to come - by car, no public transport to Loch apart from V-line bus. Parking is easy.
Start time 10am, finish is a flexible 2pm. I am happy to have visitors stay and spend more time in the studio.
What to bring: All materials are included.
You will also receive a copy of my natural paint e-book to refer back to later (so you don’t need to stress about taking notes!).
Light morning tea, and tea and coffee is provided. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements!
There are lots of lovely places to eat lunch in Loch, and we have our very own bakery, Just a Teaspoon, on site at On Clarence for toasties, cakes and more.
This class is designed for adults. I do run children’s ‘dirty art’ classes from time to time and will advertise them when I do, (but they are not held in my own studio for obvious reasons!)
