Grounded.
In art practice, and in character….to spend time with Lucy Hersey in the midst of her workspace has been to step into a world of calm alchemy. Mortars and pestles line the shelves, a layer of fine rock dust touches most things. Natural light streams through the window onto a canvas, catching the textures of her pigments and gentle etchings into colour wash. From the earth and of the earth, be it via landscape or botanical form Lucy’s exhibition ‘Steep’ in Mirboo North reflects her time in residence. - Karli Duckett
